Printrix: Export Print-Ready PDFs from Figma with Real Text and CMYK

Figma's built-in PDF export rasterizes text, ignores CMYK, and breaks at the print shop. Printrix — a free Figma plugin from the PDFTriX team — fixes all three.

Why Figma's Default PDF Export Falls Short for Print

Figma was built for screens, and it shows the moment you try to ship a design to a printer. Three problems come up over and over again:

  • Text gets rasterized.Your beautiful 8 pt body copy comes out as a fuzzy bitmap instead of crisp vector glyphs. No re-flow, no selection, no accessibility.
  • RGB only.Print shops need CMYK. Figma exports sRGB, so your brand red shifts on press — usually toward muddy orange.
  • No bleed, no marks, no spot colors. If you're sending to a commercial printer you'll be hand-fixing the PDF in another tool every time.

What Printrix Does Differently

Printrix is a Figma Community plugin that runs locally inside Figma and produces a real, print-ready PDF in seconds. Under the hood it's powered by the same PDF engine that runs PDFTriX, so the output matches what professional pre-press teams expect.

  • Real selectable text— glyphs are written as actual font data, not rasterized images. Searchable, copyable, accessible.
  • CMYK color profile— choose between RGB for screen review and CMYK for press, with proper ICC handling.
  • Multi-page export— pick the frames you want, choose the page order, hit export.
  • High-resolution images— embedded at original DPI, no silent downscaling.
  • Vector preservation— shapes, strokes, and effects stay as PDF vector primitives wherever possible.

How to Use Printrix

  1. Open the plugin page on Figma Community: Printrix on Figma Community.
  2. Click Try it out to install it into your Figma workspace.
  3. Open any Figma file, select the frames you want to export, then run Plugins → Printrix.
  4. Pick your color mode (RGB or CMYK), confirm the page order, and click Export PDF.
  5. Download the file and send it straight to print.

When You'd Use Printrix

  • Designing brochures, flyers, posters, or business cards in Figma.
  • Sending packaging or print collateral to a commercial printer.
  • Building pitch decks where text needs to stay sharp at any zoom.
  • Producing client deliverables where the PDF itself is the artifact.

Built by the PDFTriX Team

Printrix is one of two Figma plugins we ship as derivative products of PDFTriX. The PDF generation pipeline is the same one we use for our online editor, our compression tool, and our form export flow — battle-tested across millions of pages.

If you import PDFs intoFigma instead of exporting out of it, check out our companion plugin Importrix, which converts PDFs back into fully editable Figma layers.
